Anahita

In Ancient Persia, as in any other ancient Civilizations, the first statues that were made were the small clay statues of pregnant women. They reflected the fundamental belief in fertility and nature worship. Anahita was the goddess of rain, growth and birth, and her will and plans had the control over rainfall, flowing the rivers, growing plants and the birth of humans and animals. The presence of these statues reflects the specific social position of women in the age of Agriculture. This work is like a broken piece of a gigantic statue of the fertility goddess. This fracture changes Anahita’s position.
